MOUND LASER AND PHOTONICS

Mound Laser & Photonics Center (MLPC) broke ground July 16, 2012, for a new $4 million, 20,568 square foot facility at the Miami Valley Research Park. Alan Scherr Associates provided the design services for this new facility working with MLPC's president and CEO, Dr. Larry Dosser, for over three years to make his dream a reality. MLPC is moving from the Mound Technology Park in Miamisburg, Ohio, where he has been located since MLPC's inception.
MLPC currently employs 43 people (see above). With the expansion, it will add an additional 30 or more jobs. MLPC's new facility is expected to be completed in April, 2013.

SOUTHDALE NATURE CENTER
Alan Scherr Associates, LLC was selected to design a new facility for the City of Kettering to be used as a “Land Lab” for use by the community and the city’s schools and staff. The main focus of this facility is to be an environmental education center “Land Lab” and not a traditional nature center but rather an educational facility. There are to be multiple learning areas both indoor and outdoor.
This new facility is designed to accommodate for up to 25-30 students in each classroom and allow for furniture and display space. Along with the interior layouts, there will be ample exterior environment access with an outdoor fireplace. Construction will begin in the third quarter 2012 with a completion date of spring 2013.
